Dr Anthony Keeley is a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon with over 15 years of experience working across the public and private sectors, primarily serving the St George and Sutherland Shire regions.

He has completed sub-speciality dedicated training in lower-limb orthopaedic surgery, specifically in the areas of major orthopaedic trauma, knee and hip replacement, and arthroscopic (“keyhole”) knee surgery for sports knee injuries (reconstruction) and other knee disorders.

Dr Keeley has trained extensively in knee replacement surgery utilising modern techniques, such as robotics, computer navigation, patient specific instrumentation (PSI) and most recently, caliper-verified measured resection using kinematic alignment principles.

His preference is kinematically aligned, caliper-verified resection technique, as it offers various post-surgical patient benefits, with some studies suggesting a higher patient satisfaction rate, less stiffness, faster return to activities and a more ‘natural’ feeling knee.

Hip Replacement Surgery

Dr Keeley has trained in both posterior and anterior (from the front) hip replacement surgery. Anterior hip replacement surgery is sometimes regarded as “minimally invasive” hip surgery.

His preference is the anterior approach as it offers various post-surgical patient benefits, with some studies suggesting a faster functional recovery, lower risk of dislocation and less pain during recovery.
